Raleigh Mayer is a communications
consultant, coach, and teacher, specializing
in presentation, executive image management,
and career development.
Formerly a spokesperson
and organizational executive for the New
York City Marathon,

| Raleigh’s areas of expertise include
media relations, public affairs and communication
strategy. She is currently a senior fellow at the
Logos Institute for Crisis Management and Executive
Leadership, and an associate with Benchmark Communications,
Inc. |
Raleigh is also a coach in New York
University’s Stern School of Business, a lecturer at
Columbia University’s Executive MBA program, and an
adjunct professor of marketing and management for New
York University, where she has taught for 15 years.
She has counseled and trained hundreds of international
business executives in business presentation, press
interview skills, and public relations strategy, serving
a wide variety of enterprises including consumer, financial,
technology, law, education, entertainment, communications,
non-profit, and public interest groups.
A leader of the NYU Summer Institute
in Public Relations, Raleigh also conducts seminars
in instructional development for NYU’s professional
studies and degree program faculty. She has taught in
the Media Arts and Communication department at The City
College of New York, and lectured on corporate communications
at the Stevens Institute for Technology.
In her previous position as vice president
for public affairs for the New York City Marathon, Raleigh
provided strategic consultation on all press relations
and publicity for corporate sponsors, and was instrumental
in the exponential growth of the Marathon, now viewed
by millions worldwide.
Raleigh is an official emcee for prominent
New York City-based events such as the J.P. Morgan Chase
Corporate Challenge, and has served as a nationwide
cable television commentator for the MSG Network. She
has been a featured guest on CNN’s Larry King Live,
Martha Stewart Living Radio, and other national news
and feature productions. Raleigh is a founding member
of Women in Sports and Events, a professional organization
for executives in the industry, and sits on the board
of Public School 75. She is also a performing member
of the “Broadway at the 92nd Street Y” community chorus.
A native New Yorker, Raleigh received
a B.A. in English with a concentration in Theater Arts
from Middlebury College in Vermont, and was first employed
as a reporter for Park East News, a Manhattan culture
monthly. She has had more than 30 letters to the editor
published, in business journals such as Crain’s and
PR Week, and in almost every section of The New York
Times.
